Postprandial hypertriglyceridemia closely associated with early atherosclerosis in patients type 2 diabetes
Among five risk factors independently correlated with intima-media thickness (IMT) – an early marker of atherosclerosis – in patients with newly diagnosed type 2 diabetes, postprandial hypertriglyceridemia (ppTG) had the strongest statistical influence, Indian researchers report. The correlation with ppTG was observed in patients with either normal fasting triglycerides or fasting hypertriglyceridemia.
