The significance of abdominal obesity as the form of obesity most likely associated with the Metabolic Syndrome is emphasized in this report. On a clinical basis, abdominal obesity can be evaluated by an increased waist circumference. This consensus document also emphasizes that obesity must be the primary target to properly manage the Metabolic Syndrome.
