Professor Yuji Matsuzawa is a graduate from the Osaka University Medical School. He is currently the Director of Sumitomo Hospital and Professor Emeritus, Osaka University, Japan. Prior to these roles, Professor Matsuzawa was the Director of Osaka University Hospital, Osaka University Medical School.

From 1988 to 1999, Professor Matsuzawa has been Associate Professor and Professor at the 2nd Department of Internal Medicine, Osaka University and Professor at the Department of Internal Medicine and Molecular Science at the Graduate School of Medicine, Osaka University.

Professor Matsuzawa is the President of the Japan Atherosclerosis Society, the Japan Society for the Study of Obesity, the Japanese Society of Molecular Medicine. He is the former president of the XIII International Symposium on Atherosclerosis. Professor Matsuzawa is an editorial board member of many journals including Arteriosclerosis, Thrombosis, and Vascular Biology, Journal of Lipid Research (Advisory Board), Diabetes Research and Clinical Practice, Clinical Medicine and Asia Pacific Journal of Clinical Nutrition.
