Doctor Steg has been a staff cardiologist in the Department of Cardiology at the Hôpital Bichat since 1988 and was appointed as Professor of Cardiology at the Faculté de Médecine Xavier Bichat, Université Paris VII, in 1994. He is a former member of the Institut Universitaire de France, a fellow of the European Society of Cardiology and of the American College of Cardiology, and a member of the Public Relations Committee of the European Society of Cardiology since 1998. He works as an interventional cardiologist and is the Director of the Coronary Care Unit of Hôpital Bichat in Paris.

Doctor Steg’s research interests lie in the field of interventional cardiology and acute coronary syndromes. He is co-chair of the GRACE publication committee, the REACH publication committee and is involved in the coordination of clinical trials as well as in national and international registries in the field of coronary artery disease. More recently, he has become interested in cardiovascular prevention and epidemiology. Doctor Steg is the author of more than 150 original articles and 75 reviews and editorials in peer-reviewed journals, and is a member of the editorial board for several journals including The European Heart Journal and Theheart.org. He is the Editor-in-Chief of ESC Congress News. He is a member of the Board of Directors of ANAES (French Agency for Assessment and Certification of Hospitals). Finally, he belongs to several scientific advisory boards, notably the Fondation Leducq.
